For the past few months, we’ve been hearing buzz of changes happening on Massachusetts Avenue and pondering what exactly these changes are going to bring. Retail space? A really big, cool building? Sure, but it’s so much more than that.
Think of it as a little town of entrepreneurs and creatives running around doing what they do best. Within Mass Market there’s a commercial kitchen space, artist studios, a community garden, event planning & floral design, a large multi-purpose event space and rental space for both residential living and private offices.
All the individuals and businesses that make up Mass Market are very special, but the real magic is the difference they are bringing to the midtown area of Lakeland. The 3 acres of land housing a collection of 1920-1950’s buildings is redeveloping and rebuilding the reputation of a part of town that often gets overlooked. Haus 820, Repurpose Art Studio, Art/ifact, Your Pro Kitchen, and the rest of Mass Market’s tenants are bringing booming life, fun and growth to this small part of Lakeland.
Haus 820 specifically will fill a role that Lakeland hasn’t quite seen in years prior. The venue has no definitive function other than housing events, making it a massively diverse, important asset to the Lakeland community. Haus 820 can host parties, weddings, concerts, corporate events, and just about anything else your mind can imagine. This versatility only adds to the value of Haus 820, which can host over 500 guests and boasts a beautifully distressed, industrial feel. The space can be converted to fit the needs of any clients’ needs and will offer a unique venue that lies somewhere between the smaller options and the Lakeland Center.
Be ready, because on March 18th the tone for the future of Mass Market will be set with their grand opening. No matter what time of day you’d like to visit, they’ll have something going on. From 8am to 2pm, a market hosting a number of local favorites will be open to the public to showcase the space Mass Market has to offer. In the outdoor courtyard, The Balance Culture will be running a free yoga class for experts and novices alike.
At 6pm is when the real party starts. Tickets for the Evening Haus Party are $15 pre-sale and $20 day-of, and come with a fun list of perks. Your ticket will get you admission, 2 drink tickets, a Haus 820 frosted cup, and complimentary valet parking so you don’t have to stress about finding a spot. From 6pm-8pm, a fleet of food trucks will offer a diverse menu for attendees (there won’t be any shortage of delicious eats!). When the trucks close their doors at 8pm, Brian Sutherland will take the mic and be performing live music until the party stops. A cash bar will be available all night, and fun is guaranteed.
The utility of Mass Market and it’s tenants is absolutely limitless, and we’re excited to see where the future takes them. Until then, check out the market and hit the Haus Party to give Mass Market a proper Lakeland welcome!
