Chef and owner of Lakeland’s Nineteen61 restaurant, Marcos Fernandez, plans to expand his eatery with a brand new restaurant, D’Lucas.
This casual, speedy concept will differ greatly from Nineteen61 and utilize solely a pick-up window for fast service. His brainchild will open mid-January behind the Dixieland Mall in the space formerly occupied by recently closed Crane’s Crossing at the Gardens.
Miami-inspired Fernandez will showcase Latin American cuisine at D’Lucas. Flavors of Italy, Peru, and Spain will all be present at the pickup location.
According to The Ledger, D’Lucas will offer a Cuban sandwich, braised short rib and black beans, ropa vieja and other moderately priced Nineteen61 specialties. Nearby Concord Coffee will provide Cuban-style coffees to go with churros, guava-and-cheese pastries and other treats.
We also heard the possibility of Plant City strawberry ice cream…which is deeply intriguing!
