With the advent of the city’s exodus of college students, August never fails to bring new faces to the community. New friends, old companions, and everyone in between make their way to the swan city, settling down for the new schoolyear.

As so many more people travel to Lakeland, the events this month are out of this world…and include a solar eclipse.

August 10th Downtown Lakeland Food Truck Rally

Really…need we say more? This month’s food truck rally features food trucks selling loads of bacon, kabobs, mac-n-cheese, cupcakes, and so much more. As always, the event is family and dog friendly, so bring the pup and a pal to enjoy one of Lakeland’s most talked-about traditions.

August 12th DBMK at LKLDLive

This Tampa-based four-piece band is live at the ever-inclusive LKLDLive. The band’s alt-pop sound generated significant buzz with their single “Pills” and have been played on WSUN 97X, Lightning 100, and several other alternative stations. DBMK has also been featured in Strife Magazine, Unclear, and Depth Magazine. They’ve supported acts such as The Neighbourhood, Walk The Moon, and twenty one pilots. Bands Hardcastle and BabyBlu open the show, rounding off what’s sure to be a great night.

August 14-20th Lakeland Restaurant Week

We’re so lucky to have such high-caliber fine dining options here in Lakeland, but it’s often hard to sample all the various flavors of each restaurant. That’s why Lakeland Restaurant Week is so special. This week-long event in August incorporates the city’s finest restaurants, featuring a special prix fixe menu for a set price of $35 to showcase the very best at reduced fare. “A culinary journey,” the event features dishes from Nineteen61, Posto 9, Frescos, Red Door Wine Market, and so many more.

August 18-20th Irie Vibes Music Festival

A grassroots music festival taking place at Lakeland’s Maddox Ranch, Irie Vibes showcases reggae sounds from Marlon Asher and Sublime-esque tunes like The Expanders. Bands from a variety of genres flock to the ranch to the festival while encouraging social and environmental consciousness. Camping spots are available on a first come, first serve basis. August 25th Hold On I Know This!

Lakeland’s first live audience trivia show, Hold On I Know This! Is full of smart trivia wordplay and the city’s most brilliant contestants. This month features on-air personality Christopher Rhoden from Talk 1430 and Talk 96.7 in Lakeland.
