If you’re anything like me, you recognize pancakes as a primary food group. They rule supreme over the breakfast kingdom, and their versatility is absolutely unmatched. Chocolate chips? You know it. Cheddar & bacon? No question. I could go on for days. It appears that the Kiawnis Citrus Center shares my adoration of this delicious bread circle, and they’re ready to bring their annual festival “Flipping for Charities” back to Tiger Town for the 59th consecutive get together.
What is really incredible about this event isn’t the obvious. Yes, they’ll be serving the most important culinary creation in the history of food, but it’s all to benefit 8 amazing non-profit organizations. Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Clubs, Campfire Sunshine Central Florida, Early Learning Coalition of Polk County, Fontaine Gills Family YMCA, Girls, Inc., KidsPACK, and Parker Street Ministries make a tangible difference in our Lakeland community, and they’ll all benefit from the proceeds of the event. Grab all of your friends and family, you won’t find a more deliciously charitable cause. It’s definitely worth your Saturday morning, if you ask me.
The event will traditionally be held at Tiger Town, but this year, there’s a bit of a change. Normally the festival takes place in a hangar on site, but the event will now be hosted in the newly-renovated Joker Marchant Stadium! The good news gets better. No matter if you’re an early-riser or plan on rolling out of bed at noon this Saturday, you’ll be able to enjoy your pancakes. The event will be up and running at 7:00AM and they won’t shut it down until 3:00PM. Anyone and everyone is welcome, and there is more than plenty to keep you entertained. The kiddos (or me) will have a bounce house and other inflatable games to satisfy their fun-loving wants, and live music will be played during the fling.
Grab your tickets soon! They’re only $8 for adults, $4 for kids, or $20 for a family package. That’s a pretty sweet deal for all the pancakes, sausage, coffee, and other refreshments you could possibly desire. Make a difference by eating pancakes this weekend. We’ll see you there!
