Hey guys! My name is Zoe Trout, and I’m the new intern joining the YLakeland family this fall. I can’t wait to explore this amazing city and share it with all of you. Fifteen hundred miles from home, I’ve fallen in love with Lakeland as my home away from home over the last three years.

I am currently a senior at Florida Southern College majoring in Advertising and Public Relations and minoring in English, Spanish, and Graphic Design. A Maine native, I was drawn to the south by Florida’s endless summer, but I still hold my home city – Portland, Maine – close to my heart. Like Lakeland, Portland has a cool balance of homey and hip, which is why I  love both cities so much.

Growing up on the southern coast of Maine, I cultivated a love for the ocean and the outdoors that still runs strong. I have a fascination with other languages and cultures, travel, and a love of helping people. My ultimate dream-goal is to volunteer in (or at least visit!) every country that I possibly can. I spent last semester studying in London, England and exploring that side of the ocean.

On a typical weekend, you’ll find me in my happy place at the Downtown Lakeland Farmer’s market – a Mitchell’s Coffee House iced coffee in hand, in a spin or yoga class at Gold’s Gym, running around Lake Morton, or sneaking away to the beach with friends.

I’m excited to keep you all up to date with what’s happening in Lakeland, so stay tuned for all the deets on live music, delicious food, fun runs, and more. Make sure to follow YLakeland on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter so you don’t miss a thing. See you out there!
