New Mediterranean Grill

December 10th, 2009 4:27 pm | by Kristy Myers

There is a NEW and different restaurant downtown, Soup Land Mediterranean Grill. The name is kind of misleading as it’s not a soup restaurant, yes they have soups, but I wouldn’t say they are the staple of the restaurant. Rather, it is more of a Mediterranean grill.

Soup Land offers pitas, healthy wraps, a plate of various choices, salads, kebabs and a bunch of side options. When you eat at Soup Land there are 3 steps to follow: 1) pick it, 2) top it and 3) splash it. After deciding if you would like a pita, a wrap, salad or plate, you then pick what kind of meat you want on it: beef, pork, or chicken. Next, you choose your toppings, choose from tomatoes, various cheeses, peppers, lettuce and more. The last step is the sauce, again there are a lot of choices such as vinaigrette, tzastziki, Italian and more. Soup Land also has desserts for sale such as Baklava.

They are located where the old Quiznos was and you can hardly tell. The inside looks really nice and new, with tables and a counter where they prepare your food. Prices are reasonable as well, ranging between $5 and $7 depending what you get. Service is great, they are very helpful and fast.

Today when I went, I ordered a pita. I had the chicken with lettuce, banana peppers, onions, cheddar cheese and the Mediterranean vinaigrette. It was really good! The chicken is real chunks of seasoned chicken and tasted great. The pita itself was fresh and warm. The toppings were good also, the peppers had a kick to them which I like.

If you enjoy Greek and Mediterranean style food, you should definitely check out Soup Land, it’s a delicious alternative to the ordinary.

I have been a frequent customer and intend to go there this evening. The food is always freshly prepared, attractively presented and wholesome. The staff is always friendly and I have never had a bad experience here in 7 months. This is the type of place many travelers hope to find. Excellent food, a family atmosphere and it is at downtown.
