Remember to Vote Today!

Today is the day to vote again for who will be Lakeland’s next mayor. A run-off election was needed after November’s results were too close to determine a winner. The two candidates in the running are Gow Fields and Jim Verplanck. A re-vote is also needed to determine who will be the Northwest District City Commissioner, Phillip Walker or Clarence Grier.

The polls are open from 7am-7pm and are open to all Lakeland residents registered to vote. I will be standing in front of First Alliance Church on Edgewood Drive from 5-7pm tonight holding a sign reminding people to vote in case you forget! Good luck to all of the candidates and may the best man win!

Beginning in the Summer 2008 YLakeland launched an 8-week (June-July) Summer Leadership Program for interns and new hires. The program was started under the Lakeland Economic Development Council’s High-Skill High-Wage initiative. The LEDC staff facilitated the pilot program which included 45 participants from 17 local companies. The main goal of the program was to connect College Students/Young Professionals to Lakeland and to each other.
