An Unexpected Night of Christmas Music

Yesterday a friend of mine invited me to go to the Fox American Idols Stars for Christmas concert with her at the Polk Theatre. Neither of us have watched the show in years, but her neighbors couldn’t go so she had free tickets and we figured why not? Concerts are usually always fun, especially when the people are talented and entertaining.
The show was held at the historic Polk Theatre. I LOVE this theatre, it has so much history and I really like the stage and the twinkling star ceiling. I had never even been to the Polk Theatre until this past Monday , so it was kind of ironic that I would get to go there 2 times in one week! The theatre was perfect for this event as it has really great acoustics and plenty of seating.
The concert featured four former American Idol contestants from different seasons of the show, Alexis Grace, Gina Glocksen, David Hernandez, and Michael Sarver. They sang as a group, in pairs, and individually throughout the performance. They performed all of my favorite Christmas songs, including “Santa Baby” and “The Little Drummer Boy”. I must say I was really surprised too by the level of talent these singers had. I didn’t watch the show, so I had no idea if they would be any good or not, luckily they were great! Each one of them had really strong, excellent voices. I especially liked the performance of “Santa Baby” by Alexis Grace. This girl is my age and only about 5 feet 110lbs, but she has such a soulful, smokey voice, she sang the song perfectly.
The concert lasted about 2 hours and by the end of it I definitely felt more in the Christmas spirit. I was not expecting to attend that at all, but I am glad I did! Christmas music is one of the best parts of the Holiday, so I am really thankful I got to hear some great ones LIVE!
