Any Tips for a Good Snip?

The last time I got my haircut was in August when I was home in New York and since then it has grown out quite a bit and in my opinion is at an awkward length. I’m a natural blonde, but I get my roots highlighted because they get dark and look funny so I need that done too. I have only had my hair done once in Lakeland the entire 4.5 years I have been here! I usually just wait until I go home but considering I won’t be home until mid December, I figured I would ask for advice on where the best place to go in Lakeland is.
It’s so hard in college to find a good place to go for a haircut. Now, for guys I’m sure this isn’t as big of a deal, but for girls it definitely is! A haircut and highlight can get expensive for a girl, so it is important for us to know the right spot to go, not only for price but for quality…I don’t want to come out of there with uneven hair. The place I went to before (I won’t mention the name) did a really good job, but they were a little pricier than what I am used to.
This isn’t the most exciting of blogs, but I figured I’m not the only college student wondering the same thing. So, if you read this and you know of a place to go in Lakeland that won’t do too much damage to my wallet or my head, leave a comment and let me and the rest of the girls and guys out there know. Thanks!

Kristy- I feel your suffering.:) I normally wait until I go home, but lately I only make it home two times a year. Here are some of my hair experiences.
Purity Spa: (On the south side) Is awesome! They do a great job and everything they use in their whole spa is organic. I just got a pedicure there a few weeks ago. Amanda the owner is a doll and will teach you so many helpful at home remedies.
Merabella’s: (shopping complex at the corner of Mcdonald St. and Florida) is a good place, but pricey, the ADPIE girls at FSC told me about it. I spent $45 bucks just on a hair cut. I liked the way my hair looked, but my wallet did not.

Hi Kristy!
I am a former SLP participant and still check in with YLakeland every once in a while (apparently not too regularly, as you can see I’m posting this almost a week after your entry).
I am very particular about where I get my hair cut, as I have had many “bad hair experiences” at various salons. A friend recommended Amy at Liquid Hair (863.616.9996), and I love her! The salon is mid-range (40 for a cut & style), but I have never left her chair feeling less than amazing.
I get 2 or 3 compliments on my hair from people I don’t even know between each cut, so she must have some sort of hair styling mojo.
Just thought I’d put my 2 cents in in case you were still looking for a place. Good luck in your search!
